Description

Brown background version of the Savignac’s classic “pyjama man” poster, produced for the Milan daily newspaper “Il Giorno” It was founded by the ENI’s president Enrico Mattei. It has been linked to the left italian party and to the center-left party government for a long time, with the overflow of funding in both directions. The first issue was released in 1956 with the SEL of Cino Del Duca and Baldacci as director. Savignac’s idea was to represent a colorful newspaper informing but also putting the reader in a good mood like getting a morning fresh air. Raymond Savignac (1907-2002) was often asked for cultural and educational posters, to which a synthetic and sympathetic style was well suited. Savignac greatly appreciated Chaplin and his deep and light humor, and he was inspired by Cassandre, but without stopping to love childish design and comics. Savignac’s works were attractive by most people cause their dynamic and direct style, giving a single and precise message and without difficult graphic processing. The poster is in excellent condition and is baked on linen. As said before, there is also a version with a different background, blue.
