Description

Theatrical manifesto for the comic opera “Le chevalier d’Eon” performed in Paris in the early 20th century at the Theatre de la Porte Saint-Martin, recently rebuilt after the fire suffered in the comunard period. The work is based on the adventurous life of the knight of Eon (1728-1810), a Freemason French who worked as a diplomat in the pay of King Louis XV. Here is depicted the episode in which the knight tries to influence a court, but in the same image, in the background, the knight appears in the female disguise with which he approached the queen. The poster is designed and signed by the lithographic factory Clerice freres active in Paris since the beginning of the century. The print is therefore litographic, this specimen is in excellent condition and is lined on canvas.
