Description

It is a poster created to advertise a piece in 3 acts and 14 scenes performed at the Parisian theater “Les folies bergères”. The music was by Léon Vasseur, conductor of the theatre itself since 1879. The libretto is the work of Henry Chivot, Offenbach’s famous librettist. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find images of the show that depict the acrobatic performances of the joyous dancers, which Le Maresquier depicts hovering in the void under the American flag. The poster is backed on linen and is in excellent condition. There is also a color version not in our possession.
